This course explores the basic photographic techniques and artistic concerns involved in making photographs. These include camera handling, composition, aperture priority, shutter priority, exposure compensation, effective use of light, file management, digital image manipulation and developing a photographic vision. Advanced techniques for photographing people for portraits, fashion, or illustration purposes. Portrait and fashion lighting for both studio and location are covered in detail for coloured as well as black-and-white photography will be taught.

Students will also be introduced to outdoor and nature photography with a specific focus on understanding common natural features, basic photographic skills, marketing opportunities, magazine analysis, and other subjects related to nature photography. It provides basic skills and knowledge for students interested in photographing nature and marketing photographs.

Through lecture, demonstration, and hands on exercises, students develop their visual communication abilities. Students will gain valuable skills in recognizing photo opportunities, covering news events and features, and composing page layouts. Most importantly, students will refine capabilities to create storytelling photographs in individual and photo essay formats. Students entering this course must have a digital camera.

Students will also be taken through an in-depth study of digital editing as it applies to the needs of personal and commercial needs, using Adobe Photoshop and other editing suites. Students will be taught to manipulate scanned images and digital photographs in preparation for publication layout and design, Web output and for use in other digital platforms. Topics include photo restoration, composite imaging, masking, and the adjustment and correction of images used in graphic design and photography.

Course Schedule:

Twice Weekly, 2 hours per Class. Morning, evening and Weekend Courses are available.

Cost:

3 Certificate: Seventy Five Thousand Naira (N75, 000) – fees must be paid in full before commencing class.

6 Month Diploma: Two Hundred and Ninety Five Thousand (N295, 000) – a minimum of 70% must be paid before commencing class.

Bonus Courses:

The Creative Entrepreneurship Program (CEP01) and Fine Art Course (DRAW1) are bonus courses for all our students, they are also mandatory.

Hostel Accommodation is available at the rate of N20, 000 monthly, payment must however be made for your entire course duration at once.

Crash This Course: You can crash this course into two weeks by taking classes for 10 days at a stretch – you will spend 5 hours each day in school. The cost for this is One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150, 000).

Students who wish to spend additional 3 months for advance skills and internship with our photographers should enrol for the 6 MONTH CREATIVE DIPLOMA COURSE ( with one other creative media course of your choice).
